On 22–23 August 2026, around 460 competitors gathered at Barfoot & Thompson Stadium in Auckland for the 2026 “Wushu Heroes” New Zealand Wushu Open Tournament.
Featuring Wushu, Tai Chi, Sanda and Dragon & Lion Dance, the tournament included 69 individual divisions and 18 group events, bringing together five Dragon and Lion Dance teams, two Wushu performance groups, and 11 school teams organised by the New Zealand Wushu Development Trust.
Congratulations to all medal winners, and to every competitor who stepped onto the floor with courage, discipline and respect. Every performance reflected dedication, perseverance and personal growth.
Beyond competition, Wushu Heroes connected generations, cultures, schools and communities through a shared passion for Wushu, demonstrating the continuing vitality of Chinese martial arts across Aotearoa New Zealand.
